Supplements for Teeth: What Nutrition Can and Cannot Do
A practical guide to nutrition, supplements and the limits of “stronger teeth” marketing.
Teeth are not rebuilt by supplement claims
Tooth enamel is highly mineralized tissue, and nutrition matters to general health, but claims that a supplement can simply regrow lost tooth structure deserve skepticism.
Start with fundamentals
Brushing with appropriate toothpaste, cleaning between teeth, limiting frequent fermentable carbohydrate exposure, maintaining saliva flow and receiving dental care remain central. Supplements may be adjunctive when they address a legitimate nutritional need.
Questions for any “teeth support” product
- Is it claiming to support normal structure or to treat disease?
- Are the active nutrients and doses disclosed?
- Is there a plausible reason you need those nutrients?
- Could the same need be met through diet or clinician-guided care?
